Mighty Mighty Reform (and play Christmas Twee)
Monumental Brum indiepop band Mighty Mighty have reformed! Crikey!
There’s only one gig planned so far, and it’s a good one - at the annual Indietracks Christmas special on 6th December. Here be flyer -
Mighty Mighty if you’ve not come across them are Birmingham’s premier rapid jangle pop band from the mid 80s, it’s too lazy to compare them to Orange Juice because they bring their own slant to that sound and were also included on the increasingly legendary* C86 tape. They had a few reissues out on Vinyl Japan in around 2000 which is how I came across them and it’s genuinely exciting to have the chance to see them live.
Phil Wilson is also playing so the night is a good opportunity to get two ticks in your 80’s Indiepop I-Spy!
Christmas Twee is well worth attending. I kind of reviewed it last year, although it was the second leg in an indiepop four-parter so the specifics about how fun it is to get drunk in a Christmas train station were lost somewhere in the post.
*legendary like an albatross round the neck of indiepop.
