Colour come to Birmingham - 24th Feb

Colour, if you’ve not come across them, have been running some excellent gigs over in Wolverhampton for the last few years now. They’re putting on some gigs in Birmingham at The Victoria now too, with the first being on the 24th Feb.

They have folk-blues artist Charlie Parr all the way from Minnesota, with support from locals the Mellow Peaches and Young Runaways (who are from Wolverhampton, and I’d not come across them before but they are sounding good, the sort of thing you might randomly see on at End of the Road festival and fall a little in love with during a cider moment).

You can find more stuff out by popping over to The Colour blog and there are events on Facebook and Last.fm.

Tsk, now everyone is doing cakes…

“the sort of thing you might randomly see on at End of the Road festival and fall a little in love with during a cider moment”

That is a truly wonderful description. You’re already putting on the best nights, are you trying to claim the crown for best local music writer as well now? I suspect The Baron may want to have words…

Thanks for posting this Dunc, I hope to see you there! That is a great description of Young Runaways.

We’ve been providing fine cakes and snacks at our events in Wolverhampton for over two years…

    It’s true, I’ve sampled them.

The only other cake that’s been present at an Autumn Store event was our first birthday! Sadly I cannot find any photographic evidence of this cake.

Always happy to help out Matt. Afraid I’m not even in Brum that night though - hope it goes really well. The Vic is a great venue, possibly my favourite in the city centre already. It’s really comfortable upstairs, and also has what you’d call a “very brave carpet”, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It seems like we keep missing each other lately - we couldn’t come to your event on Saturday because of a christening. How did it go?

I’m hoping people will be mesmerised by the music rather than the carpet… it could be a close-run thing though.

I think it went quite well, I hope, thanks. There’s a post up about it now for you to browse through. The big question is who do we get in for Swedish February next year?

I’d cry with happiness for about a month and a half if we could get the Rough Bunnies
