Waaaaaah Records!
I’ve just stumbled across an absolute treasure trove of music! Waaaaaah Records (6 ‘a’s) was a small indiepop label at the start of the 90s, and it’s output was mainly in flexi disks, 7″s, and fanzines which will be lovingly stored under beds of late 30-somethings up and down the country.
They’ve moved into the current times and the *whole* of the records back catalogue is downloadable in MP3 format.
The compilation CD (catalogue number BULL 3-0) may be the best place to start to get a flavour of the label (the They Go Boom! track on it really is brilliant), but there’s also a Sound of Music covers album featuring Northern Picture Library, Blueboy and BMX Bandits amongst others. You can find a few Field Mice and Orchids rarities scattered around the back catalogue too.
I’m absolutely amazed by this being available - it’s exactly like finding a Time Capsule buried in your garden, and opening it to find someone’s made you a tape of all your favourite music from that era (luckily they’ve buried a tape player with it too because you live in THE FUTURE).

I love that song! I had trouble downloading it from here as it seems to have a semi colon in it and tried to save it as a firefox page as it didn’t know what type of file it was. I got it to work though, I think after you’ve clicked “Save Link As…” you just need to type in the .mp3 extension and that seems to work.
