The Autumn Store is Birmingham's night of indiepop, and this is it's blog. Topics include music and gig reviews, tips on promoting, maybe guitar chords for songs I love, and music chit chat in general.

I've never come across one, though I did make the vegan shepherd's pie from recipie in Volume 2. The result wasn't as easy to upload to the internet though.

It would be good to put on a Scott Pilgrim gig/play thing to coincide with the 6th Book. The line up would go The Clash at Demonhead, Sex Bob-omb, and The Boys and Crash I'm guessing.

i might be wrong, but if my memory still serves me well, on the first vol, when sex bob-omb plays for the first time (in front of knives) there's actually the full notation (even the timing of the lyrics) for a song.

Nobody ever tried to making an actual mp3 of that? it would be interesting to say the least!

Ha ha, wicked. Will Ramona sing volume 2? It should also have trumpets on it and be Sufjan Stevens-esque.

Possibly.

Yes! She defo looks right for Ramona I think (maybe a bit too pretty if anything) but I have never seen her in anything (I only watch American altrock docu-films and Space Jam). I am excited about that Michael Cera playing Scott though, he was really ace and geeky in Arrested Development and yeah he'll be super I think.

I do trust them with the music, the Brian Lee O'Malley Kupek stuff sounds ultra lovely so I can't see him letting them use awful musics when he's obviously got such good influences.

How's the Scott Pilgrim concept album coming along? I had an idea for the first book Knives song and you can have it if you like, it's the best ukulele riff in the world maybe and then the lyrics
> B, F#, C#, F#, B, F#, C#, B, F#
"my names is / knives chau and I'm a / seventeen year old chinese / canadian girl.
I recently / got a boyfriend and he's / picked me up from school / and we're going to Good Will."
> C#, F#, B
"Scott Pilgrim, Scott Prilgrim / kiss me please"

That's all I have got so far.

I kind of imagined them to sound like Boyracer though I have no idea why. Quite fast and short, sloppy round the edges, ace.

I've just got my fingers crossed that they don't sound like Avril Lavigne in the film. That would just be harrowing.

While I'm here and talking about the film, have you seen that Mary Elizabeth Winstead is playing Ramona Flowers?

I always imagined them sounding like the more straight Grandaddy songs but maybe more wobbly and a bit shorter. Did you read the thing he said about basing Envy onstage on Emily Haines? It'd be so cool if they model the bands in the film out of Canadian awesomosaurs. Kinda like in the Harry Potter film (with Jarvis, Jonny Greenwood et al) but more of an indie kid whet dream. Although, Sex Bob-omb and Crash & The Boys and Sonic & Knuckles are probably all supposed to be kinda crappy so yeah you wouldn't want them sounding all awesome.

Have you heard Plumtree? Those with the Scott Pilgrim song. They're like 90s American rock music but more fantastic. Really sweet girl harmonies at points and lots of lyrics about boys and distortion so perfect music really. I have only heard their second album (Predicts The Future) so the rest of their stuff if most probably awful.

Have a lovely day!
